Overview

Event for York County, PA residents to safely manage Household Hazardous Waste

The York County Solid Waste Authority (YCSWA) conducts free Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Events each year as part of our integrated waste management system and through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. This year YCSWA will be offering two HHW Collection Events – May 2nd and October 17th, 2026. After collection, HHW is transported to hazardous waste facilities that safely manage, and whenever possible, recycle the materials collected. Only York County residents are eligible to participate in the collection, no businesses or organizations. Only specific materials are collected at this event. To find out what materials will be accepted please follow this link to the YCSWA website here.

Attendees must register before the event and show proof of event registration by displaying their ticket on the dashboard of their car or showing event greeters a copy of their ticket using the Eventbrite app, when arriving at their designated time slot. While attending the event, all participants must remain in their vehicles and contain all collection materials in the trunk or bed of vehicle (not the back seat). Materials will be removed from vehicle trunk/bed by event staff. No smoking is permitted at any time during the event.
